McCloud Nature Park

Mccloud Nature Park is a relatively new county park in extreme northwest Hendricks County. While undoubtedly a work in progress, this park has a promising future.

Creek

Trails

Trails 3 and 5 are my favorites; each shadows Big Walnut Creek, an exceptionally scenic and - by Indiana standards, at least - clean waterway. The Nature Conservancy has worked hard to preserve land along the Big Walnut, and McCloud is a nice complement to that effort.

Prairie

Trail 2 and to a lesser extent Trail 1 traverse a restored prairie area that features tall grasses and a nice selection of wildflowers.
